The Formal Gardens
“The castle is an amazing survivor, having evolved from life as a military outpost under Elizabeth I. Its façade and courtyard are enlivened with flowery cosmos, daisies and abutilons, but its showpiece is the avenue of lime trees along the main drive. I have never seen a finer lime avenue, nor have the bees that revel in its scented flowers in summer.”

Water Gardens
Over the past few years, we have invested heavily to restore the stew ponds & lake. We are pleased to open the original water gardens, laid out by the Esmondes in the 1680s, to the public. Enjoy the tranquil serenity & spot the local wildlife.

Seasonal Gardens & Champions
As the seasons change, so do our gardens. Nestled beneath our Champion Trees, the snowdrops grace our woodlands in January before bluebells welcome Spring. Enjoy the seasons with a Garden Membership.
