Castle Tours
Huntington Castle was built in 1625 as a garrison on the strategically important Wexford to Dublin route.
Huntington Castle was built in 1625 as a garrison on the strategically important Wexford to Dublin route. After 50 years the soldiers moved out and the family began to convert it into a family home. Many generations of the family subsequently added various extensions and details making it a truly unique and interesting building. In the 1970’s the basement was converted into a temple to the Egyptian Goddess Isis and the family continue to renovate and restore the castle.
The guided tour takes approximately 40 minutes and brings the history and stories of the castle and its occupants to life. It takes in the living quarters and formal rooms of the castle, as well as the Temple of the Goddess in the basement.
NEW Open Weekends March and April - Tours 2pm, 3pm, 4pm and 5pm (Saturday and Sunday)
Open EVERYDAY May to September - Tours 2pm, 3pm, 4pm and 5pm
Prices: €10 for adults, €9 concessions and €5 for children under 12, family discounts available.

Gardens
The Gardens were mainly laid out in the 1680's by the Esmondes.
They feature impressive formal plantings and layouts including the Italian style 'Parterre' or formal gardens, as well the French lime Avenue (planted in 1680). The world famous yew walk is a highlight which is thought to be over 500 years old.
Later plantings resulted in Huntington gaining a number of Champion trees including more than ten National Champions.
The gardens also home early water features such as stew ponds and an ornamental lake as well as plenty to see in the greenhouse and lots of unusual and exotic plants and shrubs.
New Projects:
We have undertaken a lot of new projects in the last three years including:
Restoration of the Greenhouse
Restoration of stew ponds and lake
Planting of over 10,000 snowdrops
Woodland management to maximise bluebells
Establishing a new Rose Garden
Top Tip- we are only 8 minutes drive from the world renowned Altamont Gardens so why not plan a day trip to take in both.
The Gardens are open daily May to September 10.00am to 5.00pm.
We are sorry but NO DOGS are allowed on the grounds.
NO PICNICS on the grounds.
Tickets cost €6 per adult and €3 per child (this includes entry to the Playground).
